Evaluation on Improvement Zone of Foundation after Dynamic Compaction

Dynamic compaction (DC) is one of the most popular methods for ground improvement. To solve problem factors affecting sandy soil improvement effect and estimate effective range under DC, influences drop number, energy, tamping distance, tamper radius, momentum on relative degree were investigated. Three normalized indicators △δz,i, △δA,i, △δU,i derived to evaluate weak zone corresponding effect. For multipoint tamping, it found that depth are highly correlated with energy momentum, while influence number radius relatively smaller. The decrease whereas area increases distance. compacted by previous impact point will be improved a lesser extent at subsequent points. It also noted had better not exceed saturated in DC design. Based parametric study, formula considering various was put forward, validation two field cases DC.
